Notice to Group Health Benefits Participants

Texas Annual Conference Center for Clergy Excellence Group Health Benefits Participants:

The Group Health Benefits committee has been advised that UniCare will no longer underwrite group health insurance in Texas as of January 1, 2010. However, UniCare will continue to pay claims through December 31, 2009.

UniCare has advised the Conference that Blue Cross of Texas will offer guaranteed replacement coverage to UniCare's existing employer groups as of January 1, 2010. The Group Health Benefits committee is working closely with their consultant to evaluate their options and expect to have an answer in the very near future.

There is no reason for concern. The Group Health Benefits committee experienced a similar situation when MethodistCare exited the group insurance market and UniCare picked up the plan.

When will we know how much the cost will be and what are our options?

Can we still sign up for dental and vision insurance? What is the cost?
The note said we could not get this after the 2008 deadline.
